About Spout 2 not showing on OBS

Hi, I am new to OBS and Spout, I wanted to try capture my PNG avatar using Veadotube mini but i couldn’t get it to load into OBS. I reinstall OBS and reinstall spout 2 plugin many time, the screen always go blank. I put both OBS and Veadotube mini in high performance mode in the setting → graphic already too. I also already enable spout stream in Veadotube mini program setting. I am using:

Window 11

Graphic card NVDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU

and AMD Radeon™ Graphic.

note: After I install the OBS_Spout2_Plugin_Install_v1.9.0.exe I cannot find the Spout2 plugin file in C:\Program Files\obs-studio\data\obs-plugins nor C:\Program Files\obs-studio\obs-plugins\64bit.

Please help me. Thank you

The current OffWorldLive Release has a comment -

OBS No longer recommends installation into the obs plugins folder. Instead, unzip the attached zip file into C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins directory

This is confusing, but try downloading " win-spout-1.9.0-windows-x64.zip "

Copy it to C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins, and unzip it there as suggested.

Hi, I have faced similar issue. I have downloaded Spout zip file and extract it manually inside the path C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins and even C:\Program Files\obs-studio\obs-plugins. I do not know why I have 2 path for OBS tho. But anyway, the point is OBS is still not showing the Spout Capture option when I press the “+” button.

Anyone facing this issue in the big 26 and manage to solve it? Appreciate any suggestion or comment. Thanks.

What version of OBS are you using? You mention “the big 26”. Does that mean Version 26.0?

The Off-World-Live plugin release 1.9.0 says " built against OBS 31.0.X". I have tested the direct extraction to “C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins” with OBS version 32.1.2 and it works OK.

I un-installed 32.2.1 and installed Version 26.0-rc3 and after extracting again to “C:\ProgramData\obs-studio\plugins”, the Spout2 plugin does not show in OBS.

I then un-installed 26.0-rc3, re-installed 32.1.2, and extracted the plugin file. After that it shows up again in OBS.

If you are using OBS in portable mode, there is another method to use.

Good day Sir/ Ma’am,
I am sorry for the confusion, big 26 as in 2026
I am using a non portable OBS 30.1.2, and the latest Spout for this version of OBS, Spout 1.9.0
I’ve download and extracted all the relevant version of Spout zipped file from here yet it still doesn’t show.

The latest plugin release 1.9.0 mentions that it is built against OBS 31.0.X. If you are using OBS version 30.1.2 can you update to the latest version or at least 31.0.

When I extract the plugin zip file I get only the “win-spout” folder. Try removing the others with “spout2” in the name.

Have you tried running the plugin installer “OBS_Spout2_Plugin_Install_v1.9.0.exe” rather than extracting the zip file “win-spout-1.9.0-windows-x64.zip”?

Thanks for the pointing out. Turn out I carelessly did not notice the version of my OBS, one update solves it all. Thanks a lot.

OK that’s good. Knowing the requirement for update will be useful for other people.
